I have 2.8 version of DX10DIRECT… installed in FSX. But I can not install in FSX-Steam. It´s like that?. Thank you.

    • stevefsx says:

Yes, in 2.8 you have to uninstall from fsx and install into fsxse. It takes 2 seconds and it remembers all your settings. V2.9 will let you install into both at the same time

Did you read my minor issues with 2.3 over at avsim DX10 sceneryfixerforum ? Have a look regarding fsx.cfg entrys and text minimum max that should be switch

  6. NEPTUNE6P2V7 says:

Hi Steve no way for the Aérosoft Beaver no patch since 2009

but with REX it’s wonderfull lights and clouds draw , bright normal, for all textures . lights with other planes no problem

  7. Matthias says:

Hey Steve, i really love my fsx with your program!! But i noticed some differences between 2.2 and 2.3. With the new Version i lost the landing lights on some planes. I played around with the settings and noticed, that excluding small particle effects from the light correction brings back the landing lights under certain view angles. But with this i loose smoke effects and contrails in external view. Second, my REX4 cloud textures are extremely bright. Especially the cirrus layers look like a white wall with a tropical sun shining on it. For testing, i deinstalled the librarys, erased 2.3 via Windows, rebooted the System and installed Version 2.2, and viola, now is have my landing lights WITH smoke and quite normal brightness of cloud layers.
Is there any difference between 2.2 and 2.3 explaining this strange behaviour? Am i the only one experiencing sich things?
By the way, i hope you never stop working on FSX DX10 and your program, it’s so cool!

    • stevefsx says:

Someone else has reported a problem with landing lights. I will take a further look. Are your clouds bright in 2.2?

      • Matthias says:

        Wow, that’s a quick response 🙂
No, in 2.2 the clouds are a little bit grey in an upside view, and a normal white when flying above.
I’ve made a lot of pictures today, if you need some impressions.

      • stevefsx says:

Try disabling the fog option in the clouds dialog

      • Matthias says:

As you suggested, i disabled “discard fogged” in the clouds menu. Now i have beautiful clouds all over!! Thanks a lot!!
But no luck with landing lights. In Addition, i tried disabling the lights visibility in fog things, too, but again no landing lights in 2.3 during day. During night, the lights are displayed correctly!

      • stevefsx says:

Yes sorry need to look at landing lights. Fog clouds wasn’t working in v2.2 and I fixed it, but there must be side effects in some cases, what visibility range was it when you saw these effects?

      • Matthias says:

No need to apologize, it’s a great program!
Mh, concerning visibility range i can’t tell you exactly. I use FSGRW weather engine, and there the max. visibility is set to 140km with a cloud_draw_distance set to 10 in the fsx.cfg, i think must be something between 180 and 200km. But i tested it with flying in germany and the New York area with real weather, so the metars and the visibility were different, but the effect was the same.

      • stevefsx says:

There is a file missing which causes the landing lights issue, I will post some workaround instructions in a day or so.

  8. NEPTUNE6P2V7 says:

Do you have hd jet shadows on?
The model of beaver is not the FSX …. This is the Aerosoft I made a mistake..Sorry
i unactive jet shadows .. it’s the same..

may be that the effect model was incorrected I’ll look at if pacth is on the update aérosoft

  9. Glyn Jones says:

Steve, why has the DX10 fixer been pulled from sale at FSS ?
Is 2.3 working ok or should I stick with 2.2 /

  10. mopperle says:

Great work Steve! Quick question: does the simplified installation also apply when upgrading from version 2.0

  11. NEPTUNE6P2V7 says:

Hi Steve i try different planes FSX it’s only the beaver FSX strobe light effect are only for this plane . i uninstalle librairies and reinstalle, it’s the same stobe and beacon grey shadows rectangle when light .

try it, it’s the only plane to FSX with this little effect ..

    best regards

  12. NEPTUNE6P2V7 says:

    Hi Steve good day,
i’m early this morning due to a big storm here
yesterday i take the beaver float plane FSX , I found a little problem with the red beacon Beaver FSX by default when it is lit there is a shade of gray instead of red on top of the fuselage is what it will come shadows or lights is not too annoying but it sticks on each side of the fuselage beacon

  13. tobias tuft says:

Steve, your program is simply amazing the work you have put in is worth every £, it really has taken FSX to a new and continued level.. thank you

  14. CaseyFallen says:

I am having horrible performance from version 2.2. When in weather I get graphic fragments and groups/blocks of textures slow to appear. This is only in weather and did not happen back in version 2.0. So I am assuming on of the cloud options i have ticked to on may be the cause? Are you aware of anything like this? Addressed in this new 2.3 version? Thanks Steve.

    • stevefsx says:

The only difference between the versions is the missing texture fix so disable that. Also check that your texture max load value is set correctly

  15. Sherman Kaplan says:

This is a long overdue compliment, Steve. I had problems really figuring out how to use the Fixer effectively. But, I sorted all that out just before the release of 2.0. So with Fixer and SweetFX, things have been sweet. Sweetfx adds very handsome subtleties to the look of FSX. Fixer does the heavy lifting. I love the cockpit shadow effects. When friends tell me about P3D, I have no reason to be envious. Thanks!
