Version 2.0 – Update Procedure

If updating from version 1.0 only then please refer back to the email that you received from the Flight Sim Store as some additional checks are required.

Product Updates

The recommended Update Procedure is to uninstall and then install the new version as follows:

  1. Uninstall the libraries using the option in DX10Controller
  2. Open Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs and remove SteveFx – DX10SceneryFixer
  3. Launch the downloaded FSS Installer for the new version and follow the instructions, reentering your key if necessary.
  4. Launch DX10 Controller and Install the libraries
  5. Read the Manual!

Note that the 1.4 FSS Uninstaller removes the directory containing your profiles – if you want to retain them please copy them elsewhere before starting the uninstallation process.

About stevefsx

I don't use FSX that much. But I am very annoyed when it doesn't work properly!

Hello. I just discovered this and got it immediately however I have a problem with road traffic. I remember having this problem long ago even before I installed this. Other than that, all the issues like the flickering taxiways and missing arrows have been fixed! 😀

When road traffic is turned on, what seems like the car textures/parts flashes randomly on the screen in all views. The textures are sometimes coloured and I can make out wheels and red and blue areas (cars?). When in Top-down view, I also noticed the textures originate and trace the roads which makes it more convincing that its car textures I’m seeing..This happens randomly and usually near cities with lots of roads and cars. The flashes also cause the menu bar/right click menu to disappear while it is happening. They reappear once it stops. Is this a problem with DX10 and can it be fixed?

    • stevefsx says:

Road Traffic works normally in DX10. No-one has ever reported an issue.

It is just possible if you have an AMD card that you are seeing an AMD driver issue. The AMD drivers 13.x onwards don’t work well with FSX and DX10 and can cause artifacts (visual spikes) it is possible that this is what you are describing. If so don’t set water above 2.low and set the Antialiasing in DX10Controller to 2xEQ (because of a bug in v2.0 this corresponds to 4x) – you might consider driver 12.4

Steve I have a 3 Gb/3078Mb AMD Radeon HD7950 – PCI Express x 16. I just got a new Samsung LED monitor and it required me to update to the latest 13.12 Driver. I cannot seem to find any settings for the 2XEQ and the anti-aliasing choices now are just Super sampling or multi-sampling. Have any suggestions on the best settings in this scenario?

      • stevefsx says:

You set the 2xeq in dx10sf.

In NVI or the nvidia settings tool. you should select sgaa or ssaa probably 4x. Note the dx10sf labels work incorrectly in v2, but doing as I suggest above should work ok.

Steve, can you share a little on the light rule v2.0? Does it make the night lighting less intense/less brighter? Thx

    • stevefsx says:

The problem is night lighting can work in one of two ways (Lightmap, nightmap) and the core engine throws the info on which away.

The slider tells DX10SF what to do when it doesn’t know.

The light rule introduces a new hint that seems to work well with aerosoft sceneries

  3. Michael Petersen says:

i can confirm the flashing main building (daytime)with version 1.4 and earlier so it is something with the scenery

  4. Rick Wilson says:

Steve i`m having issues with the Alabeo Waco, when i look at the wing facing the sun the strobe light makes a shadow on the wing as it flicks on and off, any idea of what setting i need to untick to remove it.

    Hi Steve,

After the update all goes very nice, but the Aerosoft Megaairport Barcelona X. All the area is flickering. Any idea about what is causing it?

Thanks in advance and thank you very much for this beautiful software.

    Gerard

Was it ok before in the previous version? What if you disable all the options in the Legacy dialog?

    • stevefsx says:

sorry is this day or night?

    • stevefsx says:

Ok I bought the airport – cannot really see any major problems – can you provide more details? Some of the building roofs have a moire effect as they are basically black and white stripes – it seems the same in DX9. There is a road junction that flashes a little but again it did it in DX9 as well.

It asked on installation if I had UTX installed which I do – could that be an issue?
